West Northamptonshire Council’s vision is to make West Northants a great place to live, work, visit and thrive. We are looking for a Revenues and Benefits Assistant to join our Finance Directorate and provide reliable, accurate administrative support to the Revenues and Benefits service.

This role supports the smooth day‑to‑day operation of the team, helping to ensure that customer enquiries, claims and data are processed efficiently and securely. Working within the wider Revenues and Benefits team and reporting to the Systems Team Leader, you will play an important role in delivering a responsive and high‑quality service to residents.

The role is classed as part‑flexible, with a primary work base at One Angel Square. Subject to service needs, you will be able to work remotely for up to three days per week.

    Important application information

As part of your application, please provide a written statement outlining how you meet the essential criteria for the role. Our recruitment portal includes a dedicated section for this when you apply.

We also reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of suitable applications, so you are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

    Additional information

You will have previous experience in an administrative role, with confidence handling information accurately and managing routine processes. You are well organised, pay close attention to detail and are comfortable working in a busy environment where accuracy and timeliness matter.

You will have good numeracy and literacy skills and be able to communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally. You are confident using IT systems, and able to plan and organise your own workload while working on your own initiative.

A positive, flexible and “can‑do” approach is essential, along with a willingness to learn new systems and processes. Experience of working with Revenues and/or Benefits systems and electronic document management systems is desirable, but not essential, as training will be provided.
