The Revenues and Benefits Service provides the statutory functions of collecting Council Tax and Business Rates, alongside administering applications for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support.
Following a review of the Service, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Revenues and Benefits Team. The Council is seeking a Team Leader who has knowledge and experience of working within Revenues or Benefits and is also able to deliver the Service in a new way by working across all the areas that we deliver to residents and Businesses.
You will have at least two years’ experience in Revenues or Benefits, with detailed knowledge of at least one of these services. You will have proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and support a team in a high-pressure environment.
You will have strong communication skills both written and verbal and the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of people. Excellent customer service skills, including patience and active listening to resolve residents and businesses queries.
Working closely with the other Team Leaders, you will have the ability to deliver on-going training, particularly supporting the current Business Rates team, and helping to upskill others within the service.
Your team will be required to work on a wide range of tasks including the processing of Housing Benefit applications, Council Tax Support applications and the collection of Council Tax and Business Rates.

While ideally, we are seeking someone with extensive Business Rates experience, we do welcome applications from candidates who have experience in at least Council Tax or Benefits, who has a strong willingness to learn.
