Job description
We look forward to reading your application for the role of Roads Policing Lead.
The selected candidate will draft and develop evidence-based policing standards, support curriculum content and guidance for roads policing and police driver training, engaging with, consulting, and advising police forces, agencies, and other stakeholder organisations, to support the promotion and embedding of professional practice across policing.
Manage the College of Policing quality assurance and licensing process with regards to the delivery of the Police Driver Training National Policing Curriculum by Driver Training Units nationally.
Person specification
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Collecting, interpreting and critically evaluating information and best available evidence from a range of sources to determine and develop cost-efficient, value for money options and opportunities for policing standards and guidance which promote professional approaches and deliver improvements in working practices across policing.
- Making recommendations regarding the granting, renewal or revocation of all UK law enforcement police driver training licenses. Managing, influencing and reviewing compliance of forces and agencies with licensing standards, setting development plans and appropriate time limits for interim licence status.
- Providing support, leadership and direction to the team, setting priorities to meet existing and future demands. Balance competing demands from external stakeholders with staff wellbeing to ensure that all work is completed to a high quality and within the required time parameters.
To be successful in this role you’ll need:
- A Degree or equivalent level 5 qualification and/or significant equivalent work experience in area of subject matter expertise
- Qualified to meet the Police Sector Standard for the Training of Trainers.
- Qualified to meet Assessor standards as contained within the Assessor and Verifier National Policing Curriculum.
- Experience of problem-solving and using an evidence-based approach to develop and/or establish standards for professional practice.
- Demonstrable experience of leading teams and working successfully with organisations and/or communities to improve service delivery and implement new ways of working.
