Job summary

This is an outstanding opportunity within the Motor Transport (MT) Troop of the Logistics Department (Logs) at 43 Commando Fleet Protection Group Royal Marines (43 Cdo FPGRM). Working as part of the MT Troop management team, you will ensure the effective and cost-efficient delivery of transport support, contributing directly to the unit’s operational success.

Job description

The ADO is a key position within the MT Troop, responsible for managing the unit’s White Fleet (lease hire vehicles) in accordance with MOD policies, including JSP 800 (Defence Movements and Transport Policy) and other relevant regulations. You will oversee vehicle maintenance, financial scrutiny, and compliance with transport policies, ensuring the fleet operates efficiently to support the unit’s outputs.

You will work closely with the Motor Transport Officer (MTO), who will act as your Line Manager, and liaise with other stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of the unit’s transport services. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively are essential for this role.

Primary Tasks:

Act as the 43 Cdo FPGRM Authorised Demanding Officer (ADO) and manage the unit’s lease hire vehicle fleet in accordance with MOD policies and procedures.

Ensure all transport support is delivered efficiently and cost-effectively, adhering to JSP 800, JSP 752, Unit Drivers and MT Standing Orders, and the Babcock Phoenix White Fleet contract.

Specific Responsibilities:

The role involves supervising and monitoring MOD MT paperwork, including the F/MT1000 series, and using contract data to produce routine reports for line management. It requires scrutinising Phoenix budget reports to verify unit charges, investigating costs such as fuel top-ups, penalties, and damages, and initiating financial recovery procedures when necessary. As the Unit Collision Procedure Manager (UCPM), the role includes conducting primary accident investigations and processing related paperwork on MY SAFETY MIS. Responsibilities also include managing and safeguarding unit Fuel e-Purchase cards and Electric Charging Cards, performing monthly checks, and resolving discrepancies. Attendance at ADO and base transport meetings is required to disseminate MT-related information, including updates on the EV infrastructure roll-out plan. The role involves coordinating with contractors to manage the lease vehicle fleet, including scheduling maintenance, defect reporting, and preparing Fleet Contract Change Notices.

Person specification

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual with strong organisational and communication skills. You should have a good understanding of MOD transport policies and procedures or a willingness to learn. Experience in fleet management, financial scrutiny, and compliance with regulations is desirable.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and working from home as part of a non-contractual hybrid working arrangement. All office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to site capacity and any required workplace adjustments.   • The post does not offer relocation expenses.
