Make a difference to the safety and wellbeing of adults across York.

We are looking for an organised, motivated and professional individual to join the Safeguarding Adults Board (SAB) as an Adults Safeguarding Board Support Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the work of a statutory multi-agency partnership that is committed to protecting adults with care and support needs from abuse and neglect.

The role:

You will provide high-quality business, administrative and governance support to the Safeguarding Adults Board, its Independent Chair, Business Manager and partner agencies.

The role sits at the centre of partnership working and offers the opportunity to contribute to initiatives that make a real difference to people across the city.

You will work closely with senior leaders and professionals from across health, social care, criminal justice and the voluntary sector, helping to ensure that safeguarding arrangements are effective and that partners work together to improve outcomes for adults.

In addition you will be responsible for coordinating and supporting Board and subgroup meetings, preparing agendas and papers, producing accurate minutes, monitoring actions and maintaining effective governance arrangements.

You will support the collection and analysis of safeguarding information, assist with the production of reports and publications, manage confidential records and contribute to the organisation of learning events, conferences and awareness activities.

The successful candidate:

The role requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage a varied workload while maintaining high standards.

We are looking for someone with strong communication and interpersonal skills who can build positive and productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

You will

  • have experience of providing administrative support in a busy environment,
  • be confident using Microsoft Office applications
  • have the ability to produce clear, professional written documents.
  • be comfortable handling sensitive information and will demonstrate professionalism, discretion and a commitment to delivering high-quality support.

Knowledge of adult safeguarding and an understanding of partnership working within public services would be beneficial, although we are equally interested in candidates who can demonstrate transferable skills and a willingness to learn.

Most importantly, you will be committed to continuous improvement and passionate about supporting effective partnership working that helps adults live safe, fulfilling and independent lives.

Our offer to you:

In return, we offer a rewarding role, opportunities for learning and development, flexible working arrangements and the chance to contribute to work that has a meaningful impact on safeguarding practice and the lives of adults across York.

We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and recognise the value that different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives bring to our work. We welcome applications from all sections of the community and are committed to creating a culture where everyone feels respected, valued and able to thrive. We want our workforce to reflect the diverse communities we serve and encourage applications from candidates who share our commitment to promoting inclusion, tackling inequality and ensuring services are accessible and responsive to the needs of all.
