We are seeking a School Business Manager to lead and manage the non-teaching operations of our school with professionalism, integrity, and strategic vision.

Reporting directly to the Headteacher and supervising our office team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the school runs smoothly, efficiently, and in line with statutory requirements — allowing teaching and learning to flourish.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS and social media check and any appointment will be subject to references.

The Role

As School Business Manager, you will lead on:

  • Strategic & Operational Leadership
  • Management of finance, administration, personnel processes, and site operations
  • Monitoring and evaluating admin, finance, and Health & Safety procedures
  • Identifying and managing risk areas
  • Supporting governors and the Headteacher with high-quality administrative provision
  • Contributing to school project teams
  • Financial Management & Procurement
  • Monitoring school budgets and maintaining accurate financial records
  • Monitoring financial performance and reporting effectively
  • Ensuring compliance with audit requirements and best practice
  • HR & Team Leadership
  • Supervising office staff
  • Managing recruitment and selection processes in line with legislation and safeguarding requirements
  • Promoting teamwork and high professional standards
  • Stakeholder & Customer Relations
  • Acting as an ambassador for the school
  • Liaising effectively with governors, local authority, contractors, staff and families
  • Promoting a positive image of the school in the wider community
