A senior leadership role across two specialist school sites

We are seeking an experienced and strategic School Business Manager (SBM) to lead all operational and business functions across Perseid Lower and Perseid Upper Schools.

These are specialist provisions for pupils with severe and complex additional needs, all of whom have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). This is a highly complex and rewarding environment, supporting a particularly vulnerable cohort of learners.

About the Role

This is a pivotal leadership position, responsible for ensuring the effective operational management and long-term financial sustainability of two school sites.

You will lead on all aspects of business and resource management, working closely with the Executive Headteacher and senior leaders to support the school’s strategic objectives and maintain the highest standards of operational delivery.

The role carries responsibility for a substantial and growing budget of over £7 million, with planned expansion across both sites over the next two years.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on financial resource management, including strategic budgeting and financial planning
  • Oversee administration, HR, ICT, and management information systems
  • Manage facilities, estates and property, including planned building expansion
  • Ensure robust health and safety management across both sites
  • Drive high standards of business efficiency, compliance and governance
  • Support the strategic development of the schools, ensuring alignment between operational delivery and educational priorities
  • Manage income generation opportunities, including lettings

Team Leadership

You will lead and manage a multidisciplinary operational team, including:

  • Finance Team (2 staff)
  • Deputy Site Manager (1)
  • Assistant Site Staff (4)

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have significant experience in senior operational or business management, ideally within an education or public sector setting
  • Demonstrate strong financial management skills, including oversight of large and complex budgets
  • Be confident leading across multiple sites and managing diverse teams
  • Have a strategic mindset, with the ability to balance long-term planning and day-to-day operational delivery
  • Be highly organised, resilient and able to work effectively in a complex environment
  • Have a strong commitment to supporting vulnerable learners and inclusive education

This is an exceptional opportunity to take on a senior leadership role with real influence, helping to shape the future of two expanding specialist schools and make a meaningful difference to the lives of young people with complex needs.

Salary range

  • £51,138 - £61,653 per year
