School Travel Assistant

We have an exciting opportunity for two School Travel Administrators to join Southampton City Council (SCC) in the School Travel Service.
The successful candidate/s will be working from the office at the civic centre for a full-time position of 37 hrs per week.
About the team:
The School Travel Service is made up of Operational team, Passenger Assistants team and Compliance team.
Operational team- School Travel Team Leader for Operations, Senior Travel Officers, Travel Officers, School Travel Administrators- Responsible for arranging school travel routes, liaising with taxi/ minibus operators, SEN team, schools, parents & passenger assistants and all associated tasks.
Passenger Assistants team- Team Leader for Passenger Assistants x2, Apprentice School Travel Administrator & Over 150 Passenger Assistants. – The officer team are responsible for securing cover of routes, logging sickness, HR/ contract processes, training and associated tasks.
Compliance team – Senior Travel Planning & Compliance Officer, School Travel Administrator, Senior Independent Travel Trainer and Independent Travel Trainer. Ensuring compliance of taxi/ minibus operator contracts. Carrying out Risk Assessments of routes or journeys. Training young people to be independent in traveling to school and support with the transition and associated tasks.
About the role:
We are looking for a confident and conscientious individual/s to undertake the role of School Travel Administrator.
As School Travel Assistant you will play a key part in the smooth operational running of the busy School Travel Service. We are looking for 2 posts.
1) Supporting the School Travel Team Leader for Operations
You will be providing administrative support including general office and financial administration, answering telephone calls into the service and making outgoing calls in relation to the service. Supporting colleagues within the wider team. Please refer to the Job description for further information.
2) Supporting the Team Leader for Passenger Assistants
You will be providing administrative support including but not limited to sickness and absence recording, sourcing cover for instances of sickness and absence, general office and financial administration, answering telephone calls into the service and making outgoing calls in relation to the service. Booking training and maintaining records.
