Farnworth CE Primary School is a highly popular two form entry Church of England school with close links to St Luke’s Church. The Governing Body are delighted to advertise the opportunity for the right candidate to become part of a caring and conscientious team, who together aim to take our good school to the next level.

Contract Type: Temporary until 31 March 2027 or until the child leaves school (either voluntarily or be subject to a permanent exclusion); no longer requires your support or the funding is reviewed, whichever is the sooner.

We are seeking to appoint a caring, sensitive and patient Special Needs Classroom Assistant to support a child currently in Year 3 with communication and interaction and social and emotional needs.

The child needs support in order to enable them to transition in to and during school sessions, access their curriculum and participate fully in school life. The ability to form a safe, secure and supportive relationship with the child whilst showing patience and understanding will be an essential requirement of the successful candidate.

The child has additional toileting needs and therefore requires intimate care.

Working under the direction of the class teacher and SENDCO you will need to demonstrate a commitment to teamwork, have experience of working with children with speech and language needs and possess effective communication skills as you will be liaising closely with the parents and other professionals.

Suitable candidates should be willing / able to:-

  • Liaise between the family and school
  • Provide a multi-sensory approach to all teaching and learning activities
  • Maintain firm boundaries in a calm manner
  • Work to develop positive relationships
  • Break learning into manageable tasks
  • Give positive and constructive feedback to the child
