Whybridge Infant School is a welcoming, three-form entry school in Rainham, Havering, for children aged 4–7. We are proud of our warm, inclusive ethos, where respect and kindness is at the heart of everything we do and every child is supported to flourish.

We are seeking a passionate and committed SENDCo to join our team. In this key role, you will lead and develop our SEND provision, working closely with staff, families and external partners to ensure all pupils receive the support they need to thrive. As a skilled classroom practitioner, you will also champion high-quality inclusive teaching across the school.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and coordinating SEND provision across EYFS and KS1, ensuring a consistent and high-quality approach throughout the school
  • Supporting and coaching teachers and support staff to deliver inclusive, adaptive teaching and effective interventions
  • Monitoring, evaluating and reviewing the impact of SEND interventions, using data and evidence to inform next steps
  • Working in partnership with families, valuing their insights and ensuring their voices are central to decision-making
  • Liaising with external agencies, including educational psychologists, therapists and local authority services, to secure the best outcomes for pupils
  • Ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice, maintaining accurate records and contributing to statutory processes such as EHCPs
  • Modelling excellent classroom practice and supporting the professional development of colleagues through training and guidance
  • Contributing to the wider life of the school, promoting a culture of inclusion, empathy and high expectations for all

We warmly welcome applications from experienced teachers who are ready to make a significant contribution to the provision and outcomes for our vulnerable pupils. The successful candidate will have completed the National Award for SENCO Accreditation or NPQ for SENCOs, or be prepared to undertake this qualification.

References will be sought prior to interview. For further details, please read the attached job description.

An informal visit to the school is strongly encouraged. Please contact the school on 01708 551712 to arrange an appointment.
