SEND Administrator
We have an exciting opportunity for two SEN Administrators to join Southampton City Council (SCC) in the Special Educational Needs Team.
This role can be hybrid, the expectation is that the successful candidate will come into the office at the civic centre, two full days per week at minimum. There is the opportunity to come into the office more than this if you wish.
About the team:
The Southampton SEN Team consists of a team manager, 4 Practice Managers, 1 case Co-ordinator and Data Officer, 10 SEN Case officers, 1 SEN Administrator, 2 SEN Navigators and 4 Assistant Case officers.

The world of SEN is fast paced and needs someone who is able to take this in their stride, with sudden changes of priorities to meet statutory deadlines and the ever-increasing demand across the city.
The team often go out on a Friday after work for some drinks to cheers the end of the week. There are often also invites to weekend activities and fun Christmas do’s!
About the role:
If successful, you will be part of the professional service team supporting the delivery of services in accordance with defined standards. Monitoring and reporting on performance against standards, supporting the delivery of service and implementing improvement activities.
- To organise systems for planning, monitoring and tracking key statutory activities to ensure full team compliance with statutory responsibilities and expected key activities, in relation to cluster funding model and Assessment cycle.
- Liaise with key stakeholders in relation to SEND Consideration and Complex Panel, Early Years Panel and Cluster Support Panels, ensuring that outcomes and all information is collated and presented in a timely manner.
- To collate information and responses to complaints, Subject Access Requests and FOI requests in a timely manner to ensure the team is acting in accordance with its published procedures and statutory timescales.
- To ensure new staff receive appropriate administrative induction and arrange mandatory training.
- Maintain, regularly update and record in SEN related data bases, spreadsheets, platforms and management systems.
- To support with the process of identifying children and young people who are out
About you - we need someone who has the following:
- High level of Education (‘A’ Level)
- Excellent IT knowledge and applied skills in an office environment including self-service, digital user platforms
- Experience in using MS Office including Outlook, MS Teams, Excel, Word, Powerpoint etc to effectively meet the demands of the role
- Experience of working in an environment of tight deadlines
- Proven experience of being proactive and solutions orientated, with ability to manage rapidly changing priorities.
- Ability to communicate information clearly (written and verbal)
- Have a professional manner, working with discretion and confidentiality and demonstrable experience and understanding of the need for political sensitivity and awareness

Salary: The salary band for this role is £33,119 - £37,562 per annum (pro rata). The starting salary is £33,119 with annual progression through the salary bands.
