SEND Specialist Family Support Worker - Connaught Special School and JFK Special School
The Learning in Harmony Trust are looking for a SEND Family Support Worker to join our team
Required start: 1st September 2026
Contract: Permanent
Salary: FTE SO1 pt 23 (£38,256) - pt 25 (£39,276) pro rata actual salary SO1 pt 23 £33,989 - pt 25 £34,895
Full time (5 days a week, 36 hpw - term time + inset days + 5 extra days = 40 weeks per year) -
Connaught Special School and JFK Special School are part of the Learning in Harmony Trust, a partnership of four special schools and ten inclusive mainstream primary schools. As a SEND Family Support Worker, you will work in close partnership with staff and families across our two special schools.
Some of the ways in which you will take an active role to support our students to achieve the best outcomes include:
- Identifying and reducing barriers to engagement and learning
- Monitoring attendance and punctuality
- Signposting parents and carers to support and services
- Taking an active role in parent workshops and training
- Working in partnership with other agencies

You’ll have previous experience of:
- Working with SEND children and families
- Working and engaging with SEND parents, carers or guardians, children or individuals through
- individual and/or group-based support
- Working in an educational or outreach environment
- Working effectively with social and emotional factors affecting a child’s capacity to learn
- Working with families from diverse communities
- Working with social care and other agencies
- Safeguarding and attendance procedures and policies
JFK Special School and Connaught Special School:
- Cater for children and young people with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and autism spectrum conditions (ASC).
- Have a strong values-driven approach to education, ensuring the schools are a fantastic place to work and learn.
- Stimulating environments where children can be safe and enjoy learning with a dedicated team of staff. Staff are our most important resource and we invest heavily in CPD based on individual need.
