Join Nottinghamshire County Council, a dedicated team committed to making a difference in the lives of children and families. We believe in creating a supportive environment where everyone can thrive. Our mission is to ensure that every child receives the care and support they need to succeed.

As a SEND Support Officer, you will be a vital part of our team, ensuring that statutory responsibilities are met and services run smoothly. Your role will involve coordinating and monitoring key SEND meetings and decisions, supporting families and professionals, and maintaining accurate records. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

In your role, you will:

  • Coordinate and track SEND meetings, panels, and decisions to ensure timely progression.
  • Support the processing of EHC needs assessments, annual reviews, and school placement consultations.
  • Act as a key point of contact for families, professionals, and young people.
  • Monitor daily attendance for children in alternative provision and take necessary actions.
  • Maintain accurate records on systems like MOSAIC and other databases.
  • Provide data analysis to support service planning and performance.
  • Ensure discussions and decisions are recorded consistently.
  • Uphold confidentiality and raise safeguarding concerns promptly.
  • Assist with SEND funding processes.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A good general education, ideally with GCSEs in English and Maths.
  • Knowledge of SEND legislation and processes.
  • Experience in administrative roles, preferably in children’s services, education or social care.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintaining databases.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is organised and can manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Has excellent communication skills to engage with diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to confidentiality and safeguarding.
  • Is empathetic and can build strong relationships with families and colleagues.
  • Shows initiative and can work both independently and as part of a team.

At Nottinghamshire County Council, we offer:

  • A friendly, inclusive workplace where everyone is valued.
  • Opportunities for professional development and continuous learning.
  • A supportive environment that prioritises your well-being.
  • Generous leave and flexible working arrangements to help you balance work and life.
