SEND Teaching Assistant
Hours: 32.5 hours per week x 39 weeks per year, term time only. (8.30am - 11.30am/12.00pm - 3.30pm)
Grade: Scale 2, Point 3-4
Salary: £22,216 - £22,533 per annum pro-rata (based on a full time salary of £28,617 - £29,025 p.a.)
Contract: Fixed Term until 31st August 2027 in the first instance
Start Date: September 2026
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, patient, and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our school team.
This role will predominantly involve working on a 1:1 basis with a pupil, although there may also be opportunities to support small group activities when required. The successful candidate will provide tailored support to children with a range of special educational needs, helping them to access learning and fully participate in school life.
Whilst you will be expected to work under the direction of the class teacher you will also have the ability to use your own initiative to organise tasks and activities; creating simple resources to support the pupil’s work as appropriate. You will work closely with the class teacher and school team as well as the school’s Local SEN lead and the Trust SENCO as well as working in partnership with external contacts to support for learning and development.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience working with young children with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEND)
- An understanding of physical, sensory, and social communication difficulties
- Knowledge and experience of supporting children with emotional regulation needs, including managing behaviours that may present as challenging
- A calm, nurturing, and consistent approach
- The ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals
