TEACHING ASSISTANT FOR THE SEND UNIT

Hours: 32.5hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time only) 8:30am-3:30pm with 30 min unpaid lunch.

Salary: APTC Scale 3 (Points 5-6) -£29,436-£29,856 - actual salary: £22,834 - £23,159

Contract: Permanent

At the heart of our school’s ‘Life in all its fullness’ vision is our desire to create an Inclusive school where children with additional needs can find their place. In October 2025 we were awarded ‘Flagship School’ status by the Inclusion Quality Mark. With the opening of our SEND Unit last year, in January 2025, for children with ASD/Social Communication needs, we are excited to continue the outstanding work for children in our care.

Our SEND Unit is a newly-built, well-resoured, 12 place provision for ASD pupils. The purpose of the provision is to provide bespoke support for pupils and provide opportunities for the children to access the mainstream curriculum as appropriate.

We are seeking to appoint a teaching assistant who shares our vision and passion for inclusion, with expertise in supporting pupils, with a range of additional needs, particularly ASD and social communication difficulties. The teaching assistant will work alongside a highly skilled, motivated and friendly team, led by our SEND Unit Teacher and our Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion, in further developing our SEND unit and sharing their strong SEND knowledge.
