About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced economic analyst to join a successful team whose work informs and shapes the Combined Authority’s policy, strategy and investment activity.

You will play a pivotal role in developing the evidence base for major strategies such as the Spatial Development Strategy (SDS), Net Zero Pathway and Local Transport Plan. In addition you will be supporting other policy development across all aspects of the Combined Authorities remit including; Employment and Skills, Business and Innovation, Housing and Spatial Planning, Culture and the Environment.

The postholder will also be expected to support the Investment Team with the development and appraisal of business cases to ensure they demonstrate value for money and are HMT Greenbook Compliant.

About the person

You will be expected to work with a range of internal and external stakeholders, assist with articulating policy implications and the dissemination of key evidence findings – we are looking for an outstanding communicator with experience in writing, presenting and sharing ideas with different audiences.

Collaboration with colleagues is an essential part of the role and will suit individuals who enjoy working with others as a valued partner, peer and colleague.

We are looking for a candidate who possesses strong project management and people skills, with an excellent understanding of data collection methods (both quantitative and qualitative) and various analytical approaches to interpreting data.

Candidates should be proficient in working with socio-economic data and evidence, impact models and developing and appraising economic cases (in accordance with HMT Greenbook Guidance).

Salary range

  • £47,461 - £51,387 per year
