About the role

As Senior Civil Enforcement Officer, you will be managing a team of Civil Enforcement Officers to provide an efficient, effective and high-quality civil enforcement service throughout the borough. This includes measures to ensure the free movement of traffic as well as ensuring compliance both on street and in council car parks.

We endeavour to maximise compliance of our parking restrictions through education and enforcement, working in conjunction with West Sussex County Council. By providing local residents, visitors and businesses clear and effective parking solutions, you will help make sure Crawley is a great place to live and work.

Experience of working in a parking services environment is key. You will be leading the operational civil enforcement service and dealing with any aspect of parking enforcement that arises, including the interpretation and enforcement of legislation and compliance with council policy in relation to parking controls throughout the borough, including abandoned vehicles, preparing statistical information, dealing with complaints and supporting a team of Civil Enforcement Officers to work at their best.

You must have experience of parking enforcement, staff management and be computer literate. In addition, you must have excellent communication skills and be passionate about customer service.

Crawley is a great place to work, with a thriving business district and excellent transport connections including nearby Gatwick Airport. We are based in our modern Town Hall which opened in 2023 and is located a short walk from the town centre and railway station.

We recommend that you submit your application as soon as possible, as we may close this advert before the stated closing date if enough applications are received.

The rota may be varied from time to time to meet the needs of the service after consultation with the staff concerned.

14% enhancement on the basic rate of pay (excluding Crawley Allowance) for Saturdays and double time for Sundays and Bank Holidays worked. All TOIL will be accrued at a flat rate.

Post Holder will be required to work during our Christmas closure period (excluding Christmas Day and Boxing Day), for which time off in lieu will be given.

Full uniform will be provided and training available as needed.

The post holder must have a valid, current, manual UK driving licence and be able to use suitable alternative methods of transport throughout the borough.

Satisfactory clearance of a standard disclosure and barring check (DBS) will be a condition of employment.
