SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

GRADE 9 £41,177 to £44,253

37 HOURS PER WEEK

Great communications can shape how people see their council, build trust and make a real difference to our communities. We’re looking for an experienced communications professional to help us do just that.

As our Senior Communications Officer, you’ll take a leading role in telling Wyre’s story, managing our media relations and reputation, and making sure our communications are clear, creative and effective.

This is a varied role where no two days will be quite the same. You could be developing a communications plan for a major council priority, handling a breaking media enquiry, advising senior officers or elected members on a sensitive issue, delivering a campaign, or coordinating communications during an emergency.

We’re looking for an experienced communications professional who combines excellent communications skills with sound judgement and the confidence to operate in a busy, politically led organisation.

You’ll know how to build strong relationships, influence people and give clear professional advice, including when issues are urgent or challenging.

You’ll be a strong writer who can turn complex information into clear, engaging content for different audiences. You’ll have experience of managing media relations and delivering communications across different channels, and you’ll be equally comfortable planning ahead and responding quickly when an unexpected issue lands.

You’ll also manage and support colleagues within the communications team, helping us maintain a professional, proactive and creative service.

We’re looking for someone who is professional, creative, calm under pressure and genuinely enjoys communications.

If that sounds like your kind of communications role, we’d love to hear from you.
