We are looking for a senior content creator and videographer with a proven track record of content creation and a passion for telling stories through video and graphic content. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and results-focused content creator with a passion for digital-first content and a strong understanding of the digital landscape to join the communications team at the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG). If you have this experience, and you are confident working under pressure and able to respond swiftly to evolving situations, then we would love to hear from you!

You will be shooting, directing, producing and editing video content to communicate our announcements, events and visits. This role is about creating impactful video content on issues that matter to people including: giving renters and leaseholders more rights; tackling homelessness; building the homes we need; and investing in communities. Your role will also involve producing organic graphic content that’s visually engaging and communicates complex issues in a clear, concise way. You'll work closely with the rest of the communications team to create a combination of engaging and innovative video and graphic content that reflects current trends and promotes government activity.

This role will require regular travel to staff ministerial visits. The role will also involve lots of opportunities to develop, to collaborate with colleagues across government – including No10 – and behind-the-scenes access to the workings of government. This role will be based in London.

Job description

  • Produce high-quality video and graphic assets optimised for social media platforms, aligning with campaign objectives and audience needs
  • Support the team in collaborating with influencers, digital creators, the general public and external partners, ensuring that video content reaches and resonates with key audiences
  • Assist in the end-to-end production of video content, including planning, filming, and editing, to support organic evergreen content and digital communications Perform filming, lighting, and sound recording during shoots.
  • Handle post-production editing, including colour correction, audio mixing, and adding graphics as required
  • Create graphic content that engages audiences and adheres to the requirements of the different social media channels
  • Stay up to date with social media video trends, tools, and techniques, and bring fresh ideas to video projects to enhance engagement and impact
  • Ensure all video content adheres to brand guidelines, maintaining a consistent style and tone across projects
  • Manage and organise multiple video projects, ensuring deadlines are met and quality standards maintained
  • Review video analytics and feedback to assess content effectiveness and improve future video outputs.

Person specification

  • Experience in videography and photography to capture quality content
  • Experience in effectively using Adobe Creative Suite to create and edit content
  • Experience in managing contracts for vital services to support workload (e.g., sound licensing contracts)
  • Experience in creating graphic content for social media
  • Proven track record of working with partners, stakeholders and content creators to develop engaging content
  • Experience managing corporate channels and producing digital content
  • The ability to segment audiences based on insight and produce targeting communications that are relevant to audiences
  • Understanding of the Government's mission priorities and the ability to work collaboratively with other government departments to communicate the government’s work
  • The ability to be a strong and supportive senior member of the communications team with the ability to manage and develop team members, and maintain high communications standards in line with No10 and Government Communications Service expectations
  • The ability to react quickly and confidently in developing situations, juggling competing deadlines across a broad policy portfolio to deliver communications focused engagement advice to extremely tight deadlines

Stage 2: Interview

Sift and Interview Dates

Sifting is envisaged to take place w/c 13/07/2026.

Interviews potentially taking place w/c 20th July. Interviews are currently being held remotely via videocall. This could be subject to change.
