We are recruiting for permanent and fixed term Senior Homeless Officers to join our very busy Homeless Team, which has the responsibility for the prevention of homelessness and carrying out all the Council’s statutory homelessness duties.
As well as managing more complex cases as directed, and working with other voluntary and statutory partners, you will also be responsible for undertaking statutory Reviews and appeals in line with Part VII Housing Act 1996 (as amended).
You will provide senior officer case support to the Housing Solutions Officers within the team, ensuring that casework quality is of good quality and meets all necessary legal standards outlined in the Act and the associated code of guidance as well as deputising for the Housing Casework Manager as required.
To be successful, you should have experience of working with vulnerable people and other agencies and have knowledge and experience of housing - especially the legislation and statutory duties for local housing authorities working with homelessness.
The successful candidates will be based mainly at the Civic Centre in Chelmsford, working 37 hours per week, but will be required to work away from the office for some of the time. Hybrid working will become available once the successful applicants have been fully trained.
