    We now have an exciting opportunity to appoint a Senior Independent Travel Trainer within Children and Young People’s Services.

    About the Role

    As Senior Independent Travel Trainer, you will play a key role in designing, delivering and developing our borough-wide travel training offer for children and young people with SEND. You will:

    • Lead the delivery of a two-tier training model group-based programmes in schools and one-to-one personalised training.
    • Support young people to develop the skills and confidence to travel independently on public transport and walking routes.
    • Supervise Travel Trainers, ensuring quality and consistency across the service.
    • Deliver accredited training to staff in schools and settings to support curriculum-based learning.
    • Contribute to EHCP reviews and transition planning by providing professional input.
    • Promote the service through schools, families and community engagement.

    Roles That Matter

    We are looking for someone with:

    • Experience of working with children and young people, ideally within SEND or inclusion settings.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to inspire confidence in young people and their families.
    • Knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety, and risk management.
    • The ability to supervise staff and ensure high-quality delivery.
    • Creativity to design accessible resources and tailored learning programmes.
