Job summary

At the forefront of the fight to reshape how Britain’s energy system is designed, funded and delivered, Ofgem is driving bold policy reform to create a greener, fairer and more secure future. We’re looking for Senior Policy Managers to join us and lead complex, high-impact work that will influence the direction of energy markets and network charging across Great Britain.

Ofgem is Great Britain’s independent energy regulator. We’re at the forefront of change across the energy sector, driving toward Net Zero whilst protecting energy consumers, especially vulnerable people.

We’re offering six permanent opportunities within our Electricity Charging & Market Design portfolio. This is a unique chance to work at the centre of major reforms shaping how energy system costs are allocated, how networks are used, and how investment is directed across the system. You’ll play a significant contribution to policy areas that underpin the transition to Net Zero, ensuring the system remains efficient, fair and sustainable for consumers.

These roles sit within a portfolio responsible for some of the most critical and complex areas of energy policy, including distribution and transmission charging, and strategic investment levers. You’ll operate across cross-cutting issues that influence how the system evolves, working within markets, infrastructure and long-term planning.

You’ll lead policy thinking in a fast-moving environment, working collaboratively across Ofgem and with government, industry and consumer stakeholders to shape solutions to complex challenges.

Job description

We’re looking for individuals with strong experience in energy policy or regulation, particularly in areas such as electricity markets, network charging or system design. You’ll bring the ability to analyse complex issues, develop evidence-based recommendations and manage delivery across multiple priorities, alongside strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

In return, you’ll join a high-performing and inclusive organisation working on issues that are fundamental to the UK’s energy future. We offer hybrid working, a generous civil service pension and leave package, and the opportunity to operate at the centre of policy development with significant exposure across Ofgem and the wider energy sector.

We have a critical purpose to design and deliver electricity charging and market frameworks that support investment, enable system-wide flexibility and ensure costs are fairly allocated across consumers. In these roles, you will help shape the policies that underpin a more efficient, resilient and Net Zero energy system.

  • Communication: Clearly identifies and communicates the relevance, interdependencies and strategic fit of their work to organisational priorities both internally and externally.
