Join our Planning and Portfolio Team at L&Q:

This is a key role in L&Q’s Transformation & Change Portfolio, helping to strengthen how we plan, manage, govern and report across a complex, multi-programme transformation environment.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Portfolio Manager who can operate across the full breadth of the Planning and Portfolio Team. This includes portfolio planning, governance, reporting, resource management, portfolio controls, risk and issue visibility, senior decision support, and continuous improvement of portfolio management processes.

The role will suit someone who has worked in a comparable transformation, change, technology, PMO, portfolio or consulting environment, and who is confident operating across senior stakeholders, complex delivery structures and evolving ways of working.

You will help create a clear, integrated view of portfolio delivery, ensuring plans, milestones, risks, dependencies, resource constraints and governance decisions are brought together in a way that supports effective senior decision-making.

This is an opportunity to shape and embed portfolio management capability across a major transformation portfolio, working closely with Heads of Delivery, Programme Managers, Project Managers, Technology teams, Finance, business leads and senior stakeholders across the organisation.

If this sounds like you, we would love for you to apply!

Your impact in the role:

  • Supporting the operation and continuous improvement of portfolio governance, including senior forums, decision routes, reporting cycles, actions and escalations
  • Drawing together portfolio plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, issues and progress updates to provide a clear, integrated view of delivery
  • Supporting the development and operation of portfolio planning and master planning processes
  • Helping to build, improve and embed portfolio management processes, controls, templates and ways of working
  • Supporting portfolio-level resource management and capacity planning, including visibility of demand, supply, constraints and resource risks
  • Producing senior-level reporting, MI, dashboards and insight to support evidence-based decision-making
  • Working across programmes and projects to improve the quality, consistency and reliability of portfolio information
  • Identifying gaps, risks, inconsistencies and emerging constraints, and helping to ensure these are surfaced early through the right governance routes
  • Supporting continuous improvement in data quality, reporting standards, portfolio controls and governance maturity
  • Working collaboratively across Transformation & Change, Technology, Finance, Strategy, business teams and other key stakeholders

You will contribute directly to better portfolio visibility, stronger planning discipline, clearer senior decision-making and improved confidence in delivery.

What you'll bring:

We are looking for someone with strong portfolio management experience and the ability to operate confidently across a broad Planning and Portfolio remit.

You will bring:

  • Experience operating in senior portfolio management, PMO, transformation, change, technology delivery, or consulting roles
  • Experience working in large, complex organisations or transformation environments of comparable size and scale
  • Experience running or supporting portfolio governance, including senior-level reporting, decision tracking, risk and issue visibility, and escalation management
  • Evidence of designing, improving, or setting up portfolio management processes, controls or ways of working
  • Experience supporting portfolio-level planning, milestone management, dependency tracking, reporting, governance, assurance, or resource management
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and turn it into clear, senior-consumable insight
  • Confidence challenging the quality, consistency and completeness of project and programme information
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to work across senior leaders, delivery teams and enabling functions
  • Ability to operate in ambiguous or evolving environments, balancing immediate operational needs with longer-term capability building
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, structured and professional written outputs for senior audiences

Portfolio, programme or project management qualifications would be helpful, but equivalent experience in a complex transformation, portfolio or consulting environment is equally valuable.

If you require any reasonable adjustments at any stage during this process, including application stage, please email lqcareers@lqgroup.org.uk
