Title: Senior Portfolio Manager (Planning)

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time, 35 hours

Salary: Starting from £78,544 per annum (London weighted salary) or £68,571 per annum (Regional salary), dependant on experience

Grade: 12

Reporting Office: London, Stratford or Manchester, Trafford

Persona: Agile Worker: 20% - 40% of contractual hours to be worked from reporting office/working location (hybrid working)

Join our Planning and Portfolio Team at L&Q:

  • Shape how a major transformation portfolio is understood and delivered - this is a high-visibility role where your insight directly informs senior decision-making on priorities, sequencing, investment and capacity
  • What the role is: Senior Portfolio Manager focused on creating a clear, accurate and joined-up view of activity across a complex portfolio
  • Why we need it: Our transformation activity is large and fast-moving, with fragmented information across programmes. This role brings coherence, challenge and clarity so leaders can make informed decisions
  • Reporting line and team: Reporting into the Planning & Portfolio function within Transformation & Change, working closely with Heads of Delivery, Programme Managers and senior stakeholders across the organisation

Your impact in the role:

Main duties:

  • Build and maintain a coherent, trusted portfolio view across all transformation activity
  • Challenge, sense-check and reconcile inputs to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Hold teams accountable for providing high-quality, timely information
  • Translate complex and conflicting data into clear, senior-consumable outputs
  • Identify gaps, risks and misalignment across the portfolio
  • Support the development of portfolio governance and ways of working

  • Heads of Delivery and Programme Managers
  • Senior business and technology stakeholders
  • Wider Transformation & Change teams

Contribution to departmental goals:

  • Enables informed decision-making across the portfolio
  • Improves transparency, alignment and planning maturity
  • Strengthens governance and confidence in portfolio reporting
What you'll bring:

Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (desirable)
  • Portfolio, programme or project management certification (desirable)

Experience:

  • Experience operating within complex transformation portfolios or programmes
  • Proven track record of working with senior stakeholders and influencing outcomes
  • Experience handling and interpreting large volumes of data from multiple sources
  • Experience establishing or improving portfolio planning, reporting or governance processes

Skills:

  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capability
  • Confident in holding others to account and challenging constructively
  • Advanced analytical skills - able to interpret, reconcile and validate information
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity and bring structure to complexity
  • Clear and concise communication - translating complexity into meaningful insight
  • Outcome-focused with the ability to work autonomously without detailed direction
