We are recruiting a Senior Residential Care Worker at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37 Hours
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
Location: Various Locations across the Borough

This position offers an excellent opportunity to become part of our team and provide support across the organization.

We pay an attractive salary of £35,412 - £38,220 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

Caerphilly Residential Services are expanding their homes and we need sufficient staff within each home to satisfy Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) requirements. Within each home children will be cared for 24/7 by residential care staff, with 3 staff on shift in the larger homes at all times and 2 staff on shift for the smaller homes at all times.

The core purpose of the role is to assist the Registered Manager in providing an emotionally secure, consistent, warm, supportive and caring environment for the young people and to encourage their social, physical, emotional, intellectual and moral development so that they may realise their own potential.

For the role, we ask that you have:

  • NVQ 3 Caring for Children and Young People Or NVQ 4 Care, Or Predecessor QCF Diploma Level 3 Health and Social Care Children and Young People.
  • At least 2 years experience in a Residential child care setting.
  • Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business / work purposes to travel throughout the borough to undertake home visits, to transport children, young people and parents / carers during the week.

The Social Care Wales (Registration) Rules 2023 set out the requirement for all residential childcare workers, domiciliary care workers, adult care home workers, residential family centre workers to be registered with Social Care Wales within six months from your start date in post.

The Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) National Minimum Standards for Children’s Homes state that individuals providing care must be at least 18 years old and must be at least 4 years older than the oldest child accommodated. This is a protected characteristic under the occupational requirement of the post in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
