Exciting Senior Support Worker opportunities with Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council – rated Good by CQC.

We are looking to recruit to 7 newly created Senior Support Workers (for both daytime shifts and waking night shifts) to join the staff team running a 13 bedded Residential Care Home providing short-term, rehabilitation focused care. The service will provide strengths-based, therapy-led residential care to adults coming out of hospital or at risk of admission. As such, the service will primarily work with Older Adults, supporting them to maximise their independence and return home wherever possible. The service will be busy and fast-paced, working in partnership with our local hospital, community therapy and nursing teams and Primary Care.

The successful candidate will support the CQC Registered Manager and Assistant Managers in taking responsibility for the safety and quality of the service. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and develop a new offer for people from Blackburn with Darwen, providing operational guidance and support to the full care and support team, and playing a significant role in multi-disciplinary decision making in delivering an effective service for adults undergoing a short period of reablement support and seeking to regain independent living skills.

The right candidates will have a proven track record in delivering high quality regulated care and will possess good leadership and mentoring skills to enable them to take on this important shift leadership role and support the Registered Manager and Assistant Managers to ensure the delivery of high quality care and support, collaborating with colleagues in the council and health partners to ensure that all standards of regulated care are met and that people accessing the service receive good quality, compassionate care and support. The service is open 24 hours a day, all year round, so the role will include some weekend working on a rota basis.

As a department, we are working to deliver an outstanding in-house provider service. We are developing the Council’s in-house provision to fully complement our commissioned services while delivering the highest standards of care. We have excellent collaborative working arrangements with our Commissioning team, as well as the wider Adults & Health department and the Place-based Partnership.
