£54,495 to £61,379 per annum (pay award pending).
Permanent Full time.
Our ambitious plans to reshape our portfolio of assets and deliver a range of strategic property projects have created an opportunity for an enthusiastic Senior Surveyor to join our Strategic Land and Property team.
The Strategic Land and Property team provides a full range of professional property advice and consultancy across the Council. This includes strategic advice on current and future property strategies, the planning and delivery of residential and commercial development and regeneration opportunities, property valuations, acquisitions and disposals, rent reviews, lease renewals and estate management.
Whether your interest is in property development, acquisition and disposal, landlord and tenant or property management, you will have the opportunity to get involved in a variety of work and interesting and challenging property projects as we reshape our portfolio to meet the future needs of our service directorates and local communities.
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate:
- Qualified to degree level / post graduate level (or equivalent) in a relevant property related discipline e.g. Surveying.
- Membership of an appropriate professional body such as the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, with substantial post qualification experience.
- Have the knowledge and experience to be eligible for registration as an RICS Registered Valuer (Desirable).
- Understanding and experience of delivering property development projects, financial appraisals, analysis and funding mechanisms.
- Experience of dealing with complex site assembly to enable wholesale redevelopment.
- An up to date working knowledge of property valuation, planning and development legislation, convention and best practice.
- Significant experience and understanding of the property market and more specifically property development (both commercial and residential).
- A track record that demonstrates initiative, independence and ability to negotiate with internal and external clients and key stakeholders on property development matters.

Our aim is to balance the needs of our employees with service delivery. For this post, this is likely to include a combination of home working and working from the Council House Solihull.
Whilst your geographical base is not important, you must be able to travel to locations around the Solihull borough as required in order to fulfil the needs of the service.
This is an essential car user post as the demands of the job make it operationally essential and there is a contractual requirement to make a suitable vehicle available to ensure the requirements of the job can be carried out effectively.
