About the role

An exciting opportunity to join The Shared Lives Scheme as an Officer and become part of our team, supporting and monitoring carers who provide support to individuals within their own home, who have an eligible care need.

This is both an office and community based role, where visits within the community are a vital aspect of the job.

What will you be doing?

This role is a Shared Lives Officer, responsible for managing placements, supporting Carers, ensuring quality and safety, co‑ordinating referrals, and maintaining compliance across the Shared Lives Scheme.


  • Manage placements — Oversee the full placement process, including risk management, documentation, matching individuals with Carers, and ensuring safe, appropriate, and outcome‑focused support.

  • Support and supervise Carers — Maintain a caseload of Carers, provide guidance, conduct monitoring visits, complete audits, deliver training, and performance‑manage Carers in line with scheme standards.

  • Coordinate referrals — Respond to referrals for long‑term, short‑break, and emergency placements, ensuring timely matching and assessing suitability for ongoing support.

  • Maintain compliance and records — Keep accurate case records, update databases, produce reports, ensure health and safety compliance, and contribute to business and team planning.

  • Assess and approve Carers — Complete assessments of potential Carers, prepare reports for approval panels, and make recommendations regarding approval or de‑registration in line with Shared Lives Plus procedures.

About you

  • Independent and team working — Able to work autonomously with confidence while also contributing effectively within a team environment.

  • Strong communication skills — Demonstrates clear, professional written communication and confident, effective verbal communication.

  • IT and AI proficiency — Good understanding of digital tools, IT systems, and the use of AI to support efficient day‑to‑day work.

  • Health and Social Care knowledge — Knowledge of the Health and Social Care sector, supported by relevant qualifications or a willingness to undertake appropriate training.

  • Problem‑solving and managing difficult situations — Able to assess challenges, make sound decisions, and handle complex or sensitive situations with professionalism.
