As a Shift Supervisor, you will play a vital role in leading shifts, supporting colleagues, and ensuring that every young person receives high-quality, person-centred care. Our young people enjoy a wide range of exciting activities and experiences, including visits to Legoland, Tapnell Farm, Isle of Wight Zoo, Blackgang Chine, Robin Hill, Amazon World, Marwell Zoo, and many more. No two days are the same.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, and compassionate individual who is passionate about improving the lives of children and young people. This role would suit someone who:

  • Has experience working within health, social care, education, or residential childcare.
  • Is looking to take the next step in their career and develop their leadership skills.
  • Enjoys supporting young people to develop independence and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Can inspire and motivate others while maintaining high standards of care.

Key Responsibilities

As a Shift Supervisor, you will:

  • Lead shifts and provide guidance and support to the staff team.
  • Promote a safe, nurturing, and positive environment for young people.
  • Support children and young people with their daily routines, personal care, medical needs, and social activities.
  • Lead and oversee medication administration.
  • Support staff through supervision, coaching, and role modelling best practice.
  • Plan, organise, and facilitate engaging activities tailored to individual interests and needs.
  • Act as a Key Worker, contributing to care planning, reviews, and multi-agency meetings.
  • Complete records, reports, and documentation to a high standard.
  • Support young people to develop independence, life skills, confidence, and resilience.
  • Work collaboratively with families, professionals, and colleagues.
  • Participate in the on-call rota.
  • Contribute ideas and initiatives that enhance the quality of life and experiences of our young people.

Development and Career Progression

At Beaulieu House, we invest in our staff and provide excellent opportunities for professional development. Successful applicants will receive comprehensive training and support to develop the knowledge and skills required for the role.

As a Shift Supervisor, you will have the opportunity to complete the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare and access a wide range of career progression opportunities within the Isle of Wight Council.

Many members of our team have progressed into senior leadership, Registered Manager, and Social Worker roles.

Working Pattern

Beaulieu House operates 52 weeks a year and works on a responsive rota system, with staff receiving rotas six weeks in advance.

The successful candidate will work a combination of early, late, weekend, and standby shifts.

Shift Times:

  • Early: 07:00 – 14:30
  • Late: 14:15 – 22:00
