Do you have a passion for helping to prevent and end single homelessness and rough sleeping?

If yes, the post we’re seeking to fill could be for you.

We’re looking to recruit a full time Single Homeless Pathway Worker, on a 12 month fixed term contract (any extension dependent on future funding), to support a caseload of clients who are rough sleeping, or are at risk of rough sleeping, helping them to access appropriate services and accommodation.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Agree support plans with clients on the key areas they need support with and monitor this across time to ensure progress is being made
  • To support the commissioned assertive Outreach Service to identify and respond to reports of newly identified rough sleepers to begin support away from the streets of Tunbridge Wells
  • Prevent rough sleeping by engaging with people who have accommodation and a 'street lifestyle' i.e. begging, street drinking etc and liaise with relevant housing support services to ensure their accommodation is sustained.
  • Complete referrals to supported accommodation schemes and support client to attend assessments and signups for accommodation where required.
  • Assist clients with identifying private rentals and contacting landlords/agents.
  • Provide intensive in-reach support to single homeless clients in various forms of temporary accommodation, including support for those clients with complex needs in housing first/housing led accommodation.
  • Help clients to become tenancy ready, ensuring they are able to manage their property and rent/bills to minimise temporary accommodation charge arrears.
  • When ready, support and encourage clients to access employment to increase their independence.

About you:

We are seeking someone with experience of working with single/homeless and/or vulnerable people that have multiple and complex support needs, such as substance misuse and mental health issues.

You must have excellent communication skills including the ability to positively influence, negotiate and problem solve, for example, to engage with new rough sleepers who may not want to engage with services and help overcome the challenges which may be barriers to securing accommodation

You must also be able to effectively manage a caseload of clients and their support plans, using your own initiative, and be able to prioritise your own workload and plan ahead effectively.
