About the team

Join our highly regarded Gypsy & Traveller service within a leading local authority.

We are a busy operational team that works on a range of maintenance projects for our tenants, who live on our 10 residential sites across Hertfordshire

Our team makes a real difference to our tenants by providing a maintenance service to their plot, the sanitary facilities and surrounding areas.

About the role

  • Main base is Hatfield, although your day will be planned around the needs of the sites. We are a county wide service
  • As well as the store at Head Office, each gypsy and traveller site has an equipped site office where you can prepare for your day and access materials needed.
  • Work is varied and be carrying out fence repairs, plumbing fixtures to maintaining brick work and pre planned maintenance
  • Maintaining tidiness in public areas, and to encourage tenants to keep their plots presentable
  • You will required to take the on-call phone one week in every eight as part of our of hours service. The out of hours cover a 7 day week and are: 16:00pm – 08:00am Monday to Friday and 24 hours a day on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Carrying out reactive/ emergency maintenance as well as planned improvements on our residential sites
  • You will have access to a manual vehicle to travel to sites
  • Tools are provided

About you

Essential:

  • A building qualification in either Electrical, Plumbing or Carpentry or a work record of general maintenance skills and experience
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • A full manual driving licence
  • Excellent customer service skills

Desirable:

  • Competent with Microsoft IT packages to manage training records, emails and electronic calendar
  • Good record keeping skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Organisational Skills/ Time management
