
SNRB Teaching Assistant (Level 2 & Level 3)
We are recruiting 2 x SNRB Teaching Assistant’s at Caerphilly County Borough Council.
Working hours: 2 x 30 hours
Working Weeks TTO: 2 x 39 weeks
Contract Type: 2 x Part Time, Permanent & Term Time Only
Location: St Helens RC Primary School
We pay an attractive salary of £19,435 (Level 2) / £19,748 - £20,725 (Level 3) and offer access to training and development opportunities.
The Governing Body of St Helen’s RC Primary School are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate Teaching Assistant Level 2 and Level 3, on a permanent basis, starting in June 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The candidate will be class based in a new SNRB, within a mainstream school, for learners with social communication needs. This is a very exciting opportunity to be part of establishing the SNRB in the summer term with learners starting from September 2026. The class will have no more than 8 learners and will be supported by a teacher and three additional staff.

The successful candidate will have experience of supporting pupils with additional educational needs and integrating them successfully into a busy and vibrant primary school. Experience of working with complex needs learners or in an SNRB would be an advantage. The successful candidate will need to foster meaningful and supportive relationships with parents/carers and outside agencies, working closely with the class teacher.

For the Teaching Assistant Level 2 role, we ask that you have:
- A relevant Level 2 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales, for example NVQ2 for Teaching Assistants.
- A general understanding of national/foundation stage curriculum and other basic learning programmes/strategies.
- Good numeracy/literacy skills.
- Experience of working with or caring for children of relevant age.
For the Teaching Assistant Level 3 role, we ask that you have:
- Relevant Level 3 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales, for example NVQ3 for Teaching Assistants.
- Training in the relevant strategies e.g. literacy and/or in particular curriculum or learning area e.g. bilingual, sign language, dyslexia, ICT, maths, English, CACHE etc.
- The ability to use ICT effectively to support learning.
- Experience of working with children of relevant age.
