    Job introduction

Job title: Social Impact Officer Major Sports Events – (Liverpool City Region Sport)

The Liverpool City Region continues to host globally significant sporting events — from international championships to city-wide sporting moments — with an ambitious pipeline that includes the Tour de France Stage 2 Finish in 2027, a new inclusive multisport and culture festival, and EURO 2028 across the UK and Ireland.

We are now seeking a Social Impact Officer (Sport) to help ensure these major events deliver meaningful, long-lasting benefits across all six boroughs of the Liverpool City Region.

    What you’ll do

    • Embed social impact objectives into major event planning across the full LCR footprint.
    • Co-design sport and physical activity legacy programmes with local and national bodies, sports clubs and community partners.
    • Support inclusive programmes that promote movement, wellbeing and access for all.
    • Build trusted relationships with partners across sport, education, voluntary, community and LCR authority partners.
    • Facilitate engagement sessions to ensure community voice informs programme delivery.
    • Collect, analyse and share impact data, insight and stories.
    • Contribute to shared learning across the region.

    About you

You’ll bring experience in sports development, physical activity, health or community sport sectors, along with strong project management skills and the ability to juggle multiple programmes. You’ll understand the enablers and barriers people face in being active, and you’ll be motivated by equity, inclusion and community-driven improvement.

    Why this role matters

This is an opportunity to shape how sport transforms lives across the Liverpool City Region — ensuring major events drive improved health, increased participation and stronger, more connected communities.

Help us build a fairer, healthier, more active region for everyone.

This role is fixed term for the purpose of Supporting with Major Sports Events and will end December 2028

    Our offer to you:

    • At least 29 days holiday, plus bank holidays rising to 33 after 5 years’ service (pro rata if part time) - option to purchase further days
    • Agile working (role dependent) - a “Flexibility First” approach to agile working, where flexibility is the norm rather than the exception
    • Part of the Local Government Pension Scheme – option to join the AVC Scheme
    • Progression - opportunities and training through a wide range of high quality learning
    • Health and Wellbeing - offer including Employee Assistance Programme
    • Cycle to Work and Travel Pass Schemes
    • Drive Time – a salary sacrifice car lease scheme
    • Family friendly policies with enhanced leave
    • Discounted Gym Memberships
    • Employee Volunteering Scheme
    • Medicash
