Specialist Housing Officer
We’re looking for a Specialist Housing Officer to join our Rough Sleeper Initiative (RSI) service, delivering high-quality, locality-based housing management to some of our most vulnerable customers. You’ll play a vital role in helping people sustain their tenancies and feel safe, supported, and empowered in their homes. Working closely with care and support providers, you’ll build strong relationships within your patch, ensuring our homes and communities are welcoming, well-maintained, and inclusive places to live. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives while contributing to Peabody’s wider mission of building thriving communities.
What you'll do
On a day-to-day basis, you’ll be responsible for delivering a responsive housing management service tailored to the needs of customers within the RSI programme. You’ll manage a designated patch, working collaboratively with internal teams and external support providers to resolve tenancy and estate issues. You’ll carry out estate inspections, oversee cleaning and gardening services, and ensure properties meet health and safety standards. You’ll support customers with repairs, tenancy compliance, and sign-ups, and play a key role in void management and allocations. You’ll also contribute to community-building initiatives, helping to foster positive relationships and inclusive neighbourhoods. This position will require you to be in our London Kings Cross office for a minimum of 1 day a week and to be based at schemes for a minimum of 2 days a week.
This role will require a full UK Driver’s license and an Enhanced DBS check. You will also need to participate in an out of hours on call rota.
What you'll need
- Experience in housing management, including estate services, tenancy enforcement, and welfare benefits advice.
- Strong working knowledge of housing legislation and best practice in supported housing environments.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
- Confidence in maintaining accurate records and making sound decisions based on customer needs and service requirements.
