The Rotherham Specialist Inclusion Team require a dedicated and enthusiastic qualified teacher with at least three years recent experience of the role of SEND Coordinator to join this highly regarded team from January 2027. The role will include working throughout the 0-19 age range with some dedicated time advising school staff on supporting pupil’s presenting with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Therefore, experience and expertise in this area, particularly at KS3/4, would be advantageous.

  • A strong commitment to raising attainment and well-being for all children,
  • Extensive experience working with children with a variety of needs,
  • A passion for multi-agency collaboration to provide a holistic approach for children and families,
  • The ability to advise on individual learning needs and support whole-school SEND development,
  • An interest in working across multiple schools and settings, supporting children, teachers, and families in early identification and intervention,
  • A desire to be part of a skilled, experienced team, that champions inclusive education,

The role involves working peripatetically in supporting a number of schools and settings across Rotherham and the local area around SEND. Along with travelling and spending time in schools, there is the opportunity for hybrid/home working along with office space available at Kimberworth Place for planning, preparation, report writing and other administration as needed. Training will be provided for all key elements of the role.

The post is established under DfE Teachers Pay and Conditions as outlined in the latest edition. The post holder will be expected to undertake duties in line with the professional standards for qualified teachers and uphold the appropriate professional code.

This post involves travel within the Borough and neighbouring Local Authorities for which an appropriate allowance is payable.

Shortlisting will take place on Thursday 15th October and the interviews will be held on Wednesday 21st October 2026 at Kimberworth Place. The interview process will include the candidate completing a written task and delivering a short presentation.
