What will you be doing?

Lead system change for children and young people across Kent & Medway.

Active Kent & Medway is hosted by Kent County Council. Our vision is to get more people, more active, more often by working with a wide range of partners to address the systemic barriers many people face when it comes sport and physical activity.

Active Kent & Medway is recruiting a Strategic Lead for Children & Young People & Programmes—a senior role driving our mission to get more people, more active, more often. You’ll steer our CYP and family‑focused work, including flagship programmes focused on place and our innovative Everyday Active Schools programme. You will also be expected to manage a small talented, purpose‑driven team, and act as Deputy Safeguarding Lead.

You’ll influence leaders across education, health and children’s services to embed physical activity in strategies and delivery—creating positive, inclusive experiences that reach the least active. We’re seeking a strategic people‑leader with a strong track record in system change and outstanding partnership skills, and insight‑led decision‑making aligned to national and local Sport and Physical Activity strategy.

Benefits include a Local Government pension scheme with 20.5% contribution for members, 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays and a wide range of discounts plus a cycle to work scheme through the Kent Rewards scheme.

This position is based at Active Kent & Medway, Worrall House, 30 Kings Hill, West Malling, Kent. Flexible hours and hybrid working (office and home working).

Join a collaborative, values‑driven team making a measurable difference for children and young people across Kent & Medway—and help shape a more active, healthier future.
