About the role
Brighton & Hove City Council is part of Orbis Procurement, a shared service partnership with Surrey and East Sussex County Councils. Together, we manage over £2bn in external spend - from software and social care to cleaning supplies and sports equipment.
This is your chance to be part of a growing profession in a city full of energy and innovation. You’ll lead and be the core advisory for a range of procurement projects in Housing. Helping to secure the goods, works, and services that meet the needs of our community - all while shaping the future of public service delivery.

We’re looking for a proactive, solutions-focused professional with a passion for public service, someone able to balance completing priorities through the use of innovation and strategic leadership.
You will
- bring commercial and procurement experience, strong communication skills, problem solving skills and a collaborative approach to working with stakeholders.
- understand the public sector landscape - and how this affects purchasing strategies and practices - and be eager to drive value, innovation, and social impact.
- champion ethical and sustainable procurement practices that align with council values and community priorities.
- lead complex procurement projects with confidence, navigating regulatory frameworks and delivering results that make a difference.
- be a strategic thinker who can translate data and insights into actionable improvements across procurement processes.

Additional information
Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
We are a workplace that supports flexibility and employee wellbeing in the way we work whilst providing the best service for our customers. Team and service working arrangements are designed to support both employee work life balance and team collaboration. These would be part of your individual working arrangements alongside any personal preference agreed with your manager in advance of joining. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense.

Salary range
- £52,413 - £56,400 per year
