Are you a compassionate, adaptable individual looking to make a difference in people’s lives?

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and reliable Night Support Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will be crucial in delivering high-quality, person centred emotional and practical support tailored to the individual needs of service users in accordance with their care plans.

Working overnight requires a proactive approach, attention to safety, and a empathetic demeanour. You will ensure service users are safe, supported, and treated with dignity while maintaining a secure, well-monitored site environment.

Schedule: Shift patterns work on a three-week rolling rota
Weekday Shifts (Mon-Fri) 930pm-730am (10hours)
Weekend Shifts (Sat-Sun) 930pm-830am (11hours)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Person Centred Care and Support:
  • Provide high quality person-centred emotional and practical support tailored to the specific needs of service users in accordance with their plan of care.
  • Assist service users with personal care, dietary and individual dignity requirements.
  • Administer medication accurately and safely in line with Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council Policy and Procedure
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding and record keeping across all areas of the site.
  • Ensure the safety of service user at all times i.e. Awareness of the fire drill and other emergency procedures in the establishment, safe use and operation of equipment i.e. wheelchairs, bath hoists etc
  • Undertake security checks of the building and monitoring of the residents.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider care team to ensure seamless continuity of care.
Safety, Security & Operations:
  • Ensure the safety of service users at all times through continuous vigilance and awareness of fire drills, emergency protocols, and other emergency procedures within the establishment.
  • Safely use and operate moving, handling, and mobility equipment (e.g., wheelchairs. hoists, bath hoists) following correct health, safety, and training guidelines.
  • Undertake regular security checks of the building and continuous monitoring of service users to maintain a safe and comfortable environment.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding across all areas of the site to protect vulnerable individuals.
Communication & Record Keeping:
  • Maintain high standards of record-keeping across all areas of the site, ensuring all documentation is accurate, clear, and up to date.
  • Pass over critical communications, updates, and observations accurately during shift handovers to Lead officers
  • Report any changes in a service user’s health, physical condition, or behaviour promptly.
About You:
Essential Criteria:
  • Strong commitment to providing person centred care that respects dignity, privacy, and independence.
  • Knowledge of or training in safe medication administration (aligned with local authority council guidelines)
  • Awareness of health and safety procedures, fire emergency responses, and safe moving and handling practices.
  • High awareness of safeguarding responsibilities for vulnerable adults
  • Strong communication skills, ability to work effectively during night shifts, and collaboratively within a team
Qualifications:
  • Hold a Minimum of HSC/NVQ level 2 or equivalent
  • Commitment to undertake and achieve HSC/ NVQ level 3 in Care.
  • To hold or commitment to undertake and achieve HSC 375 Administer medication to individuals.
  • To hold or commitment to undertake and achieve First aid at Work Certificate.
