Job Description
Support Officer - Environment Performance & Support Team Salary: £29,253 - £32,736 per annum Grade: C Fixed Term Contract to September 2027 37 Hours per WeekWe are seeking a committed individual to join us as a Support Officer. This role is an exciting opportunity to support Thurrock Council’s Support and Performance Team, sitting in the Place Directorate. The main purpose of the role is to support Thurrock Council’s Place service via our Support and Performance Services Department. Main Responsibilities:
- To provide support in the provision of services associated with Planning, Building Control and Land Charges, including any legislative requirements.
- To process (including scanning, saving and indexing) applications within statutory time limits. (Training will be available).
- Undertake registration and processing (including scanning, saving, indexing and linking to software) all applications within a statutory time limit and in compliance with relevant legislation.
- To process and monitor post and generic mailboxes.
- To respond to requests (by telephone, letter, email and in person) for information in a clear, accurate, polite and prompt fashion.
- To keep up to date knowledge on current projects in order to provide first line advice or information on processes and/or liaise with officers for technical knowledge.
- Help manage the team’s filing and record keeping and contribute to the maintenance of records on current applications, using both paper based and computer based systems, including inputting and extracting information via a personal computer.
- To attend meetings and briefings when required and provide the appropriate feedback, including taking minutes and distributing them accordingly.
- Validate applications to ensure they meet national and local requirements.
Key Skills and Experience:
You will need to be willing to work flexibly and able to work on your own initiative. You will need to enjoy working in a team that works to very demanding but achievable timescales. The team delivers a high standard of service to our customers which is essential in the growth and development of Thurrock.
The service operates between 8:00am to 17:00pm Monday to Friday, expected working hours are 9am till 5pm.
