The SHIP Co-ordinator will be responsible for leading on and delivering the Supported Housing Improvement Project (SHIP) across Lancaster and Preston over the next two years.

The Co-ordinator will lead a multi-disciplinary team (MDT), including staff from housing standards, housing options, adult social care, fire and rescue service and housing benefits. The co-ordinator will have line management responsibility of the 2 x administrators and provide direction and guidance to other MDT members in relation to the project.

The Co-ordinator will manage the delivery of SHIP to provide a joined-up approach to improving quality and standards within the non-commissioned supported housing sector. In particular, the short term or transitional market, where clients are provided with accommodation on a short-term basis, usually up to a maximum of two years. There is often a high turnover of clients within this market. The project will provide a range of skills and expertise from different services, that will help facilitate positive changes in the provision and management of supported housing across Lancaster and Preston.

Applicants should have experience of commissioning or management of supported housing, managing projects, producing reports and presenting to a range of audiences.

A full current UK driving licence is essential, as the post holder will be required to visit supported housing schemes in Lancaster and Preston and travel to council offices.

As a result, you will be required to sign up to the authorised external DVLA driving licence validation organisation that we use to manage and monitor our employees driving licence data. Reasonable adjustments can be made for those who are unable to drive due to a disability.

This post is temporary until the end of March 2027. The hours of work for this position are 37 hours per week, working Monday – Friday 9.00am-5.00pm. This post is based at Lancaster Town Hall.

For internal applicants, this role will be considered for a secondment opportunity. The secondment of an employee from another Service can only take place with the agreement of the Manager of the Service the applicant is contracted to. When this role comes to an end, the successful internal applicant will return to their substantive role.

The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced clearance with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
