About the role:
We have a fantastic opportunity for a new Temporary Accommodation Contract Officer to join our existing Temporary Accommodation Contract team.
This role offers a real opportunity to make a difference to people’s lives daily. We’re looking for someone who focus on delivering a responsive and efficient Contract monitoring service to our residents and accommodation providers. You’ll need to have excellent customer care skills and focus on delivering the best outcomes for all the resident in the area you support. You’ll need to be highly organised and proactive as this is a busy customer facing service. The role of a Temporary Accommodation Officer is varied, no two days will be the same, so it’s important that you can think on your feet.

Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering an outstanding service to residents taking the lead on responding to and managing a course of actions where a breach of temporary accommodation specification has occurred.
- Manage a Portfolio of properties to a professional standard and in line with policies and procedures.
- Promote excellent customer care.
- To carry out quarterly reviews meetings with managing agents and ensuring that managing agents are working in line with the temporary accommodation specification, and that temporary accommodations are regulatory compliant.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to policy, practice, and team development.
- To carry out residency checks and visits in all types of temporary accommodation including stage one hostels, and to take appropriate action in relation to abandonments, unauthorised use, and any issues raised by residents
- To work closely with officers in other boroughs as necessary to resolve disrepair and management issues; to liaise effectively with Housing Standards and other services in Waltham Forest; to represent the service externally as required in dealing with temporary accommodation standards; to provide data for Setting the Standard and other pan-London initiatives to address TA issues
Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Housing legislation
- Ability to inspect properties, assess their suitability against a set of standards based on the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS), and clearly identify defects and works necessary to achieve the required standard
- The ability to understand and manage the expectations of temporary accommodation residents
- The ability to build affective working relationships with landlords and Managing agents
- Ability to work constructively with other services and agencies and to negotiate successful outcomes for residents.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- An understanding of the responsibilities of social housing landlords (desirable).
- Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office and data base applications.
