    About the role:

    As KS2/ KS3 Teacher at Mill School, you will be an integral part of our team who put the children and young people at the heart of everything we do. You will plan, assess and deliver outstanding teaching and learning using proven methods and approaches that enable all young people to learn, whilst ensuring that pastoral needs are also met. You will establish excellent relationships with parents and carers and inspire trust and confidence in pupils, colleagues, families and other professionals.

    About you:

    For this role, we are looking for someone who holds a teaching degree or equivalent and QTS. Ideally, you will have teaching experience delivering the primary and secondary National Curriculum along with experience of working with children with SEND and ASC.

    We are keen to hear from teachers who have experience working with children with autism spectrum conditions and social emotional and mental health needs, however, due to the supportive culture at Mill School, this position may also be suitable for mainstream primary or secondary teachers and ECTs who feel they are ready to take on a challenge.

    With a proven ability to deliver high quality, lively and effective teaching which engages and motivates young people, you’ll be someone who has a passion for supporting them learn and develop, and you’ll want to make a difference to the lives and education of our children and young people.     We very much welcome applications from teachers wishing to transition from mainstream to working with smaller groups of students in special education. We will help you build your expertise and confidence to deliver high quality, lively and effective classroom teaching in an autism-friendly way through our ongoing package of training, CPD and one-to-one supervision.

    Essential requirements:

    • QTS (or equivalent)
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    Mill School Bury is part of the Kedleston Group and opened in 2020.

    Mill School Bury is an independent autism specialist school which supports children and young people aged from 7 - 16. The school has been designed to best support children’s mental health and well-being and to provide a state-of-the-art learning environment.

    The school is set in its own extensive grounds including areas for Bush Craft and a MUGA. Inside, a combination of rebound, multi-sensory and immersive reality therapy spaces ensure the holistic approach continues.

The aim is to help the children develop a tool kit of coping strategies to leave school with.
