Job Advert – Teacher of Humanities (Geography/History) - Fixed Term until 17 July 2026
Required a.s.a.p for a fixed term contract until 17th July 2026.
We are looking for a well-qualified teacher of Geography and History to join an established and supportive team. This post offers an ideal opportunity for either an experienced or a newly qualified teacher to be part of an exciting school community where pupils enjoy a calm and respectful environment that helps them to study and learn. Pupils and staff are immensely proud to be part of the fantastic and supportive community here at CtK. We are a school with very low staff turnover due to the commitment of leaders to the staff workload/work life balance strategy that we have. Teachers can take their PPA time at home which provided staff with the quality time needed for planning and preparing great teaching.
The post would suit an ambitious teacher seeking a stimulating, supportive working environment. The teacher appointed will be an excellent practitioner, able to engage and challenge pupils to enable them to achieve their best. You will ensure that the highest possible standards in the department are met and that all pupils reach their full potential. The successful candidate must be able to: establish good relationships with pupils to inspire learning; promote interest in the subjects and ensure high achievement; be able to work well with colleagues in the department and across the school; have commitment and initiative and a ‘can do’ approach, willing to make a contribution to the catholic life of the school and ensure all our pupils achieve the best possible outcomes.
Christ the King Catholic High School is a mixed 11-19 school in Southport and we are a school community underpinned by Gospel values and principles. It is our core purpose to prepare our young people for the exciting challenges and opportunities ahead. Our curriculum inspires a lifelong passion for learning and equips our pupils with confidence, skills, and attitude to lead successful and fulfilling lives.
We challenge and inspire all pupils to be the best version of themselves. Our ethos is built around a culture of enjoyment and achievement. We believe that when joining our team as a pupil, parent/carer, staff member of a member of the local community, by embracing our values of high aspiration, transformation experience and excellent achievement, we will deliver outstanding educational outcomes for all.
Closing date for all applications is midday on Monday 2nd February 2026 and the successful candidates will be informed that afternoon. Interviews will take place during the week beginning 9th February 2026. The interview process will consist of a lesson observation, a lesson planning task and a panel interview. Applications are required to be completed using the CES application form attached. Supporting statements, no more than two sides of A4, should address your suitability for the role.
Due to the nature of the work, this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. We are committed to the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils and young people. All applicants will be subject to social media checks, references and successful applicants to a fully-enhanced DBS.
