Class Teacher — Moulton School

Start something special: join a warm, village-centred primary where every pupil is known, cared for and encouraged to flourish. We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed class teacher to join our friendly one-form-entry team and make a real difference to pupils’ learning, wellbeing and future success.

About Moulton School

  • Founded in 1894, Moulton School is at the heart of our village community. We are proud of our long history and of the welcoming, friendly atmosphere that staff, pupils and visitors consistently comment on.
  • We are a one-form-entry, maintained primary with a strong pastoral ethos and a values-driven culture. Our core values — courage, humanity, justice, transcendence, temperance and wisdom — underpin our school motto and the behaviour expectations: READY, RESPECTFUL, KIND and SAFE.
  • Context: we serve primarily the village of Moulton with some pupils from neighbouring areas. Our cohort includes a rising proportion of disadvantaged pupils and pupils with SEND. Children often enter Reception below age-related expectations, particularly in communication and language; we have established catch-up and targeted programmes across EYFS and KS1 to accelerate progress.
  • We follow the OFSTED framework and were recognised for positive behaviour and robust safeguarding in our last inspection (2022).

About the role

We are recruiting a full-time Class Teacher on the Main Pay Scale to join us from September 2026.

As a Class Teacher at Moulton you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, well-sequenced lessons that meet the needs of all pupils through effective differentiation and assessment.
  • Maintain high standards of classroom behaviour and create a safe, nurturing environment where pupils are ready to learn.
  • Use assessment (formative and summative) to set clear, ambitious targets and track pupil progress.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, parents and outside specialists to support pupil development.
  • Contribute to whole-school priorities, including early reading (phonics), oracy development, maths mastery approaches and targeted interventions for SEND and disadvantaged pupils.
  • Participate in the appraisal cycle and professional development opportunities.

This role offers the chance to have a visible, positive impact on pupils’ outcomes and well-being in a school where children come first.

About you — the ideal candidate

You will be:

  • A qualified teacher with a clear commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Able to plan effectively to meet the needs of a diverse class and to set high expectations for progress and behaviour.
  • Skilled in building warm, productive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues and able to work as part of a small, supportive team.
  • Confident in using assessment to inform planning and in adapting teaching to support pupils with varying needs (including SEND).
  • Enthusiastic about early reading, phonics and developing oracy; ideally with experience or a willingness to engage with Read, Write Inc and mastery approaches in maths.
  • Calm under pressure, well organised and committed to promoting our values in every aspect of school life.

We welcome applicants who will contribute to our inclusive, values-led culture and who are excited to grow professionally within our school.

What we offer

  • A friendly, supportive staff team and a school community that values the whole child.
  • Clear school improvement priorities and structured opportunities for professional development (including access to Phonics Hub, Maths Hub activities and targeted CPD).
  • A strong pastoral system, including ELSA provision and robust safeguarding practice.
  • A chance to contribute meaningfully to whole-school improvement priorities such as early reading, oracy and SEND provision.
  • Wellbeing-focused leadership and a commitment to reasonable workload through monitored wellbeing audits and supportive appraisal.
