Class Teacher (Maternity Cover) — Moulton School

Fixed-Term Contract (Two Terms)

Start something special: join a warm, village-centred primary school where every pupil is known, cared for and encouraged to flourish. We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed class teacher to join our friendly one-form-entry team and make a real difference to pupils' learning, wellbeing and future success.

About Moulton School

Founded in 1894, Moulton School is at the heart of our village community. We are proud of our long history and of the welcoming, friendly atmosphere that staff, pupils and visitors consistently comment on.

We are a one-form-entry maintained primary school with a strong pastoral ethos and a values-driven culture. Our core values — courage, humanity, justice, transcendence, temperance and wisdom — underpin our school motto and our behaviour expectations: READY, RESPECTFUL, KIND and SAFE.

We serve primarily the village of Moulton, with some pupils from neighbouring areas. Our cohort includes a rising proportion of disadvantaged pupils and pupils with SEND. Children often enter Reception below age-related expectations, particularly in communication and language, and we have established targeted support programmes across EYFS and KS1 to accelerate progress.

We follow the Ofsted framework and were recognised for positive behaviour and robust safeguarding in our most recent inspection.

About the Role

We are seeking a full-time Class Teacher to join us on a fixed-term basis for two terms to provide maternity leave cover, starting in September 2026.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to become part of a supportive and ambitious team, making a positive impact on pupils' learning and development during a key stage of their education.

As a Class Teacher at Moulton School, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, well-sequenced lessons that meet the needs of all learners through effective differentiation and assessment.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and create a safe, nurturing environment where pupils are ready to learn.
  • Use assessment effectively to monitor progress, identify next steps and ensure pupils achieve their potential.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, parents and external agencies to support pupil development.
  • Contribute to school priorities, including early reading, oracy development, maths mastery and support for pupils with SEND and disadvantaged pupils.
  • Engage fully in the life of the school and contribute to our inclusive, values-led culture.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • A qualified teacher with a commitment to delivering high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Able to inspire, motivate and challenge pupils of all abilities.
  • Skilled in building positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
  • Confident in adapting teaching to meet a range of needs, including those of pupils with SEND.
  • Enthusiastic about early reading, phonics and developing pupils' communication skills.
  • Organised, reflective and committed to continuous professional development.
  • Passionate about promoting the wellbeing, achievement and personal development of every child.

We welcome applications from both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers who share our values and vision.

What We Offer

  • A friendly and supportive staff team and welcoming school community.
  • Enthusiastic, well-behaved children who enjoy learning.
  • High-quality professional development opportunities.
  • A strong commitment to staff wellbeing and manageable workload.
  • The opportunity to make a genuine difference in a caring and ambitious village school.
