The recruitment process will consist of a classroom observation scheduled to take place during week beginning 11th May and interview on Tuesday 19th May.

The Pupils, Headteacher and Governors of Waverton Primary School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed and engaging class teacher to join our dedicated teaching team from September 2026. The post is 0.4 over two days and is initially for one year.

The successful candidate will need to:

  • Be an excellent classroom practitioner and have experience of providing creative learning opportunities, exceptional teaching and purposeful assessment
  • Be dedicated to ensuring the progress of all pupils, of all abilities, with a commitment to high standards
  • Have a secure understanding of the EYFS statutory framework, early learning goals and Development Matters.
  • Have experience of creating a high-quality continuous provision environment, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Be skilled in interacting with and observing children, identifying next steps and using assessment to support progress from individual starting points.
  • Be confident teaching early phonics, early reading, writing and mathematics in an age-appropriate and engaging way.
  • Foster strong relationships with families and understand the importance of this.
  • Be committed to nurturing the whole child with a particular emphasis on well-being and providing pastoral support.
  • Be calm and positive in managing pupils’ behaviour, including pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
  • Be willing to make an active contribution to the broader life of the school.
  • Be able to lead a curriculum area.
  • Have a commitment to further professional development.
