Teaching Assistant required for 5 mornings per week from September 2025

Ancora House School provides education to in-patients admitted to Ancora House, the regional adolescent psychiatric unit in Chester. Our school is also commissioned to provide education in the local community for learners not able to access their mainstream school due to ill health at the school's site in Frodsham.

The opening of a new Day Ward for Eating Disorder patients has created a vacancy for a teaching assistant to work at the hospital site 5 mornings a week and offers a unique experience for the right candidate to develop existing skills and to gain experience of working in the specialist field of adolescent psychology or mental health.

To secure the best possible outcomes for our learners, our outstanding teachers and support staff work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary clinical team that includes doctors, psychiatrists, occupational therapists and speech and language specialists and clinical support staff. You will be working as part of a team of professionals who are dedicated to improving outcomes for learners who are at risk of disadvantage because of their difficulties.

You will have a high degree of emotional warmth and resilience coupled with expertise and a creative approach to engaging and supporting young people.

Successful candidates will have an understanding of trauma informed practice alongside experience of supporting the learning of young people who have special educational needs related to social, emotional and mental health difficulties.
