The Governors of Dee Point Primary School wish to appoint a temporary full time or part time - dependant on the candidate, 1-1 teaching assistant to join our hard working and passionate team as soon as possible until the end of the academic year, with the view to extend. We are looking for a caring, patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team as a 1:1 support for a Year 1 child with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding role where you will make a real difference every single day.
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide consistent, individualised support to a Year 1 pupil to help them access learning
- Build positive, trusting relationships to support the child’s emotional wellbeing
- Use nurturing, trauma-informed approaches to help the child manage emotions and behaviour
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and outside professionals
- Support learning both in the classroom and during small group or individual tasks
- Help create a calm, safe and encouraging learning environment
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with young children, ideally within a school setting
- Understands SEMH needs and is confident using de-escalation and regulation strategies
- Is patient, resilient and able to form positive relationships
- Has excellent communication skills and can work well as part of a team
- Is committed to helping all children succeed
- Understands the importance of consistency, boundaries and nurture
