Do you believe that some of the best learning happens beyond the classroom?

At The Grange Primary School, we recognise that children learn in different ways. For some, a combination of classroom learning, practical activities and outdoor experiences can make all the difference to their confidence, engagement and success.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, adaptable and caring Teaching Assistant to support small groups of Key Stage 2 pupils who benefit from a blended approach to learning.

Working under the direction of teaching staff, you will help deliver engaging, practical and project-based activities, making use of our outdoor learning spaces and helping children develop their confidence, independence and enjoyment of learning.

The successful candidate will:

Support the delivery of planned outdoor and project-based learning activities with small groups of KS2 pupils.

Help children access learning through practical, hands-on experiences.

Support pupils with additional learning, social, emotional or behavioural needs.

Encourage positive relationships, teamwork, resilience and independence.

Adapt their support to meet individual needs, following guidance from teaching staff.

Help create a safe, positive and engaging learning environment, both indoors and outdoors.

Work closely with teachers and other staff to support pupils' progress and engagement.

We are looking for someone who:

Has experience working with primary-aged children, ideally in Key Stage 2.

Enjoys outdoor learning and practical activities.

Is patient, positive, flexible and enthusiastic.

Can build strong, supportive relationships with children.

Understands that some children need a different approach to help them succeed.

Is confident supporting small groups and encouraging positive behaviour.

Is a reliable team player with a genuine passion for helping children achieve.

Experience supporting children with SEND or social, emotional and mental health needs would be desirable. An interest in Forest School or outdoor education would also be welcomed, although no specialist qualification is required.

What we can offer:

At The Grange, we are proud of our inclusive approach and our commitment to helping every child succeed.

You will join a supportive and dedicated team, with opportunities to make use of our outdoor learning environments and help children experience learning in ways that work for them.

If you're enthusiastic, enjoy getting involved and believe learning doesn't always have to happen behind a desk, we'd love to hear from you!

The Grange Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful applicant will be subject to appropriate safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check.

As an employer, we promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect the same commitment from existing and prospective employees or volunteers. Recruitment to this post will follow our safer recruitment procedure which includes us requesting references prior to interview and a DBS check.
