We are recruiting a Teaching Assistant Level 2 at Waunfawr Primary School to commence 1st September 2026 pending pre-employment checks.

Working hours: 32.5 Hours per week

Working Weeks TTO: 39 Weeks

Contract Type: Part Time, Term Time Only, Fixed Term until 31st August 2027

We pay an attractive salary of £19.763 - £20,077 per annum (FTE £25,583 – £25,989) (Grade 4 SCP5 -SCP6) and offer access to training and development opportunities.

Waunfawr Primary School, Crosskeys, is recruiting a teaching assistant for September 2026. We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative practitioner who promotes play, language and outdoor learning through enabling environments.

Candidates should work well in a team, contribute positively to the school community, nurture pupils with additional learning needs, and deliver small‑group interventions. Waunfawr Primary is a friendly, inclusive 3–11 school with around 165 pupils in the Sirhowy Valley. We offer supportive staff, engaged learners, positive behaviour systems, welcoming environments and strong professional development. School tours are offered to shortlisted applicants.

For the role, we ask that you have:

  • Relevant Level 2 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales. For example NVQ2 for Teaching Assistants experience.
  • Completion of DfES Teacher Assistant Induction Programme
  • General understanding of national/foundation stage curriculum and other basic learning programmes/strategies.
